To uncover artefacts in a scientific, ethical way in order to help preserve our past and teach our future generations

Mission

To research and locate areas of interest where past events took place and to learn as much as possible from artifacts recovered from these areas. Where possible, this will be done in collaboration with archaeological, cultural history and museum societies.

Code of conduct

We undertake to:

1 Work under the supervision of and accredited archaeologist and in co-operation with the Heritage Foundation (or other accredited conservation body) as recommended by them.

2 Adhere to the regulations of the National Heritage resources Act,no 25 of 1999.

3 Submit heritage objects to museums for possible inclusion in their collections, or alternatively keep them in storage where they will be accessible for researchers.

4 document all our actions by means of detailed photographs and submit them to the heritage institution with whom we co-operate.

5 Make our expertise available to conduct Environmental / Heritage Impact Assessments in cooperation with archaeologists.

7 Fill all excavations that are made while metal detecting.

8 Appreciate and protect our heritage of natural resources, wildlife,and private property

9 Be considerate and courteous at all times.

We undertake NOT to

1 Destroy private property, buildings, or what is left of ancient ruins and deserted structures.

2 Metal detect in or near grave sites.

3 Litter and will pick up any trash that we dig up or find on the ground while metal detecting

4 Contaminate wells, riverbeds, or other water supplies.

5 Tamper with signs, structural facilities or equipment.
